Grade 8 Camp - Student Leaders and Grade 8 students

Relationships between student leaders and grade 8 students

Grade 8 camp is an annual event where all grade 8 students and about 30 student leaders attend an away camp for 2 nights and 3 days in September. During the camp student leaders establish strong social emotional connections to the grade 8s through leading and participating in a variety of activities. Relationships built between the leaders and grade 8 students are evident as we have progressed in the school year. Student leaders are providing continued mentorship to foster a strong peer dynamic between older and younger students by modelling how we enact our core values of Care and Respect in our school community. As next steps, the leaders will take an active role in leading our Social Responsibility Days with grade 8 students in December and May. The focus of these SR days will be on digital citizenship and then environmental stewardship.
