I am your Career Information Advisor here at SLSS. My job is to offer you support and resources to help you transition from high school to post-secondary studies. In general, I provide career and educational planning information and advice about the different post-secondary options available to you. I typically meet with students in Grades 10-12 to help you:

  • Consider a career path that might be right for you,
  • Explore and explain career and post-secondary options that best meet YOUR needs,
  • Research post-secondary institutions that offer your career program of study,
  • Assist with course planning for Grade 11 and Grade 12 class subjects so that you meet the requirements for post-secondary admissions,
  • Notify you of upcoming post-secondary events,
  • Help you register with Student Transcript Services (STS) to allow the BC Government to send your transcripts onto post-secondary institutions,
  • Give you strategies help you stay on top of your applications, meet deadlines, and prioritize the tasks you need to complete as you apply for post-secondary,
  • Explore options to pay for post-secondary studies through scholarships, bursaries, or financial aid,
  • Help you compare your offers of admission and advise you on post-secondary accommodations,
  • Provide volunteer and part-time work options ... And much more!

I am located in the Counselling Department and available to meet with you Monday & Tuesday 10:30am  – 3:00 pm &  Wednesday & Thursday 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. I do not work on Fridays.

Have questions about your university/ college applications? Want to know more about a specific program of study or learn more about a particular school? Come meet the recruiters and admission staff for the following Universities or Colleges.

They will be visiting SLSS on the following dates:

UBC Medical School Ambassador - Thursday, November 7th at 12:15 PM in Room 103

University of Waterloo – Monday, November 18/24 12:50 PM in Room 103

Western University - Friday, November 29th at 12:50 PM in Room 103

Vancouver Community College – Tuesday, December 3rd at 12:50 PM in Room 103

Career Centre Calendar

For ALL upcoming scholarships, you can simply refer to the CALENDAR below. You can browse ahead to see which scholarships will be available to you in the coming months. This calendar is continually updated throughout the school year, so please visit it regularly! Keep in mind the scholarship deadline dates, you want to ensure that you have plenty of time to apply to as many scholarships as possible. Remember that some scholarships will require more time and attention in filling out than others. Be sure to visit the weblinks provided for each scholarship listed, as these links will provide you with detailed information (like eligibility criteria, application forms, etc.,) that you will need to fill out prior to submitting your application.
