This year, the process for obtaining tickets for the Commencement Ceremony at UBC’s Chan Centre has been updated to improve accessibility, convenience and to reduce the risk of misplaced tickets. As demand for this ceremony is always high and we are the biggest secondary school in Richmond, the ticket distribution process continues to prioritize fairness and equity.

Please note: Graduates do not require tickets. Tickets are only for guests attending the ceremony.

Families are strongly encouraged not to make non‑refundable travel plans for out‑of‑town guests until tickets have been secured.

Tickets for the SLSS Commencement Ceremony on June 20^th, 2026, at 1:00pm will be managed through UBC’s online ticketing system.

Grads: we will have a short optional Grade 12 Assembly tomorrow (May 6^th), at the start of lunch to explain the UBC online ticketing system and our SLSS instructions, so students can help their families navigate the UBC online ticketing system.

• Round 1 will be open from May 8 - 21 and includes:
  • Up to two complimentary tickets per graduate

Round 1 is NOT first-come, first-served, but tickets must be claimed by May 21. SLSS will try and remind students/families to claim their (up to) two tickets. Two additional purchasing rounds will follow, with availability in Round 3 dependent on remaining tickets:

• Round 2: May 26 - June 4
  • Up to one more ticket per graduate
• Round 3: June 9 (as long as tickets remain available)
  • First-come, first served and without limits

For ticketing questions, contact UBC’s ticket purchasing team directly. The access (LINK) to this page will be shared by email on Friday, May 10^th before 8:00am.

If families would like to create an account before Friday morning, please visit the UBC Tickets website HERE. A few families my already have an account in the system if they have ever bought a ticket to an event at the Chan Centre or other venues at UBC.

Please check your email on Friday morning for the LINK to the SLSS UBC Landing Page which contains the SLSS-specific instructions. Do not try to test any promo code until May 8^th at 10am, when we are permitted to secure tickets. Again, there is no rush for Round One, as it is NOT first-come, first-served, so there is no rush to read the instructions and claim your ticket(s).
