BC Youth Week Events - South Arm Community Centre

The Youth coordinator at South Arm wanted to share some activities they have happening during BC Youth Week (May 1-7). Steveston-London is their of our catchment schools and they would love to build a connection between their centre and our school and share opportunities for youth to have fun and develop new relationships within their community. See their messaging below:

On Friday May 3rdwe have our South Arm Youth Basketball showcase from 7:45-9:30pm (during our Friday night youth hangout). There is an 8.5FT dunk contest (open to male identifying, transgender and non-binary youth) and a 3 point competition (open to female identifying, transgender and non-binary youth). They just have to email me to sign up to compete by Friday evening or come see me here at South Arm! This contest is free and open to youth spectators to come watch with their Youth Facility Pass 1 (a free program we offer to youth 13-18 to access drop-in activities for free) and we’ll have a DJ to pump everyone up!

We are still looking for a youth photographer to capture this event so if yourselves or your visual arts photographers know of any youth interest in gaining experience and volunteer hours we’d love if you could share the poster, or the details provided within it, amongst some of your talented students!

On Saturday May 2nd, South Arm Youth Council is running Mr. Feast’s Hunger Games- a free activity in South Arm park from 2:45-6:00pm where youth will compete in team games to win food related prizes and finish then finish the day off with pizza! Youth are encouraged to email or see me in advance to sign up but we’ll also have a sign up table on the day of.

All BC Youth week events can be found at bcyouthweek.com , on the City of Richmond website, or on the @southarmccyouth Instagram or the @southarmccyouth Instagram if they’re interested in seeing all the free events happening across Richmond that are catered for youth to have fun and try new activities!
