Connections Conference Day

Following our first two Connections classes where the focus was (a) What does it mean to be a Shark, and (b) What do we value as a Shark community, we followed up by looking at the value of diversity.

During the homeroom session, students completed an individual identity wheel, and talked about the diversities that we see in the classroom and school.  We also discussed what is diversity and what might we value about diversity at SLSS.

Following this, grades 8-10 spent time looking at some Unlearn visual prompts, while the grades 11 and 12s had the opportunity to see two speakers, with diverse abilities, discussed their career paths.

During all of these sessions, students had the opportunity to do some core competencies self-reflections, specifically in the areas of Social and Personal Responsibility.
