World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world annually on October 5 to highlight the achievements of educators and the important part they play in the future of every generation.  This year's theme is Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.  We are celebrating progress in recognizing teachers’ vital role, highlighting the challenges the profession continues to face, and calling on society and policymakers to protect, promote and elevate its status.  (SOURCE: www.unesco.org)
