A Message from the Board of Education: Welcome Back

Dear Richmond School District Community,

As a new school year begins, the Richmond Board of Education would like to welcome students, staff and families back to schools across the district.

To our students, we hope the year ahead brings new opportunities to learn, grow and connect with others. To our staff, thank you for the care and commitment you bring to supporting students. To parents and caregivers, we appreciate your continued partnership as students begin another year of learning.

This September also marks the opening of a new elementary school in Richmond’s City Centre. The new school will help serve this growing community and welcome students and families for the first time.

As students return to school, roads and neighbourhoods around schools will become busier. We ask all drivers to slow down, follow posted signs and remain alert for children walking, cycling or travelling to and from school. Drivers are asked to take extra care near the new City Centre school as families become familiar with the area.

Across the district, students will continue to learn, develop and take on new challenges. Their progress will be supported by the encouragement, guidance and partnership found throughout our community.

Thank you for helping make the return to school a safe and positive experience for everyone. We look forward to beginning the new school year together.

Warmest regards,
Ken Hamaguchi, Chairperson
On behalf of the Board of Education (Richmond)
